Risk & Evidence Map
Screening layers from open sources only — every layer declares its source, resolution and evidence status. Nothing here is a probability of loss; it is evidence to verify.
Multi-hazard snapshot — map centre
Screens the current map centre against every available hazard (point screening, not a spatial grid). Use it to decide which hazard layers are worth switching on.
Compare with another location
Compares the selected hazard at the map centre with a second site — a quick screening before a full insurance profile.

The view link restores location, hazard, year and mode. GeoJSON contains the currently active layers only — each feature keeps the layer it came from.
Key terms in plain language
- Observed vs modelled
- Observed = measured (satellite scene, recorded event). Modelled = computed from a model (forecast, projection, scenario). The filter on the left separates the two — they are never mixed silently.
- FWI (Fire Weather Index)
- A weather-driven index of how easily fire could spread today. It says nothing about ignition or probability of loss.
- NDMI / NDVI
- Satellite vegetation signals from Sentinel-2. NDMI ≈ fuel moisture (dry vs moist), NDVI ≈ greenness. A 10 m pixel can see a park, not a single tree.
- FIRMS
- NASA's near-real-time active-fire detections. A hotspot is a heat detection, not a fire perimeter.
- ESA WorldCover
- A global 10 m land-cover map used to cross-verify land-use claims.
